Prep: Are Your Lead Types Referable?
- Before starting, make sure the referral method has been set on your lead types.
- If you haven't done this yet, see the Setting Up Lead Types guide first.
Step 1: Adding a Partner
- Set the partner up under Partners > New Partner, or let them sign up themselves via the New Buyer online form.
- If adding manually, complete the Partner Details section first - Company Name is the only required field.
- You can give the partner portal access by:
- Emailing their login details during set up, or
- Setting a password yourself afterwards.
Step 2: Partner Settings
Complete the following:
- Partner type
- Portal access level
- Credit limit (optional)
- Delivery method - including set up if Internet Delivery is chosen
- Lead delivery limits
- Delivery schedule (if applicable)
- Low funds threshold and alert preferences
Step 3: Partner Referral Set Up
This determines:
- Which leads the partner can receive
- How much the partner pays per lead
- Whether default lead costs override partner costings
- Billing Points - when the partner is billed for a lead
- Partner-level lead limits
- Selection priority
- Whether the partner can manage the lead type from their own account
Step 4: Payment Methods
- Partners can be set up as Pre-Pay or Post-Pay.
Pre-Pay:
- Partner must add funds before purchasing leads.
- Add funds via a transaction adjustment (Statement tab)
- Creates a positive balance; leads are charged based on costings and Billing Points.
Post-Pay:
- Partner is given a credit limit, working like a bank overdraft.
- Balance goes negative as leads are purchased, up to the credit limit.
- Once the limit is reached, a payment must be made to free up credit
Step 5: Partner Preferences
Found in Settings > Configuration > Partners:
- Allow partners to provide an FCA authorisation no - requires the partner to add their FCA number in Reports & Settings > Account Details before receiving relevant leads. See Setting Up Lead Types for details.
- Allow pause/resume lead delivery - lets the partner set themselves online/offline from their portal. See Partner Referral & Distribution Rules for more on availability.
- New Buyer feature - allows partners to sign up directly. They stay in a pending status until activated by a user in the FLG account.
Troubleshooting
- Many factors affect whether a partner is eligible for referral.
- Run the Partner Eligibility Report to check status and see any failing criteria (e.g. no credit, daily limit reached).
- Confirm the partner has the correct lead type and locations selected under Partners > Referral Setup.
