This article explains the various tracking stages that emails sent through FLG may be at. The tracking stage label (if there is one) appears next to the date in the lead's activity, or in the Last Action column in email reports.
No Label (or "Sent" in Email Reports)
Emails that have just been sent or have soft bounced will have no label, or show as Sent in email reports.
A soft bounce means the email address was valid and the message reached the recipient's mail server, but bounced back because:
- The mailbox was full (user is over their quota)
- The server was down
- The message was too large for the recipient's inbox
- The mail server asked us to retry later
FLG will continue attempting to send for several days. If delivery ultimately fails, the email will be treated as failed.
Failed
An email fails when:
- We couldn't connect to the recipient's mail server
- The mail server rejected the message (sometimes after many retries)
- We didn't attempt sending because previous attempts failed - the message was dropped
View the email and check the Status field for more detail - it will show either an email status code or Dropped.
If the failure is a hard bounce (a permanent error, such as a mailbox that doesn't exist), the lead's email address will also be set to Invalid.
Delivered
The email was delivered to the recipient's mail server. Note: this does not guarantee it reached the inbox - spam filters may still have caught it. See the Email Deliverability & Spam article for more information.
Opened / Clicked
Indicates the email was opened or a link was clicked. Requires open and click tracking to be enabled in Settings > Configuration > Email.
- Open tracking is not reliable - many email clients block the tracking mechanism
- Use open tracking for comparison between batches of emails only, not as an absolute measure
Replied (Email Reports Only)
The recipient replied to the email.
Unsubscribed / Spam
The recipient either clicked the unsubscribe link, or marked the email as spam.
