How do I lower my email bounce rate?

Modified on Thu, 25 Jun at 3:03 PM

FLG has bounce rate thresholds in place that, if exceeded, will temporarily disable your domain. These limits protect your email reputation - without a good reputation tied to your domain and IP address, your emails won't reach recipients' inboxes.

Why Domains Get Blocked

  • The number one cause is a bad mailing list - often containing invalid addresses and spam traps
  • ESPs (Email Service Providers) are effective at identifying poor mailing lists
  • FLG includes built-in email validation on lead entry and sending for known blacklisted addresses
  • All email addresses that bounce on first send are automatically blacklisted

Best Practices for Lowering Bounce Rates

  • Use an email validating service at the point of signup to reduce invalid addresses
  • Clean your mailing list frequently - especially before sending a bulk email - to remove invalid addresses
  • Never purchase lists or scrape websites for email addresses
  • Only send emails to recipients who have actively signed up to receive them
  • Verify addresses using a confirmation email (also known as confirmed opt-in)
