Lead Group Set Up

Modified on Tue, 14 Jul at 12:42 PM

You'll add your new enquiries into a lead group

Each lead group comes with standard fields so you can save key details straightaway:
  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number
  • Email
  • Address
  • You can add then add 50 additional fields

Tailoring groups to enquiry types

  • FLG can process different types of enquiries, so it's best to set up a separate lead group for each.
  • This lets you add custom fields relevant to that enquiry type. For example:
    • Mortgage group: Mortgage type, mortgage amount, employment details
    • Insurance group: Renewal date, premium, mileage

Setting up a new lead group

  • Go to Settings > Lead Group > Add New Lead Group.
  • Once it's created, click Edit Group to add or adjust your fields.

General settings
1.1 - Name your Lead Group
Give your Lead Group a name that reflects what it's capturing. For example, use
Mortgages for mortgage applications, or Wills for wills enquiries.

1.2 - Copying hidden fields
By default, any field marked as type
Hide (or any field a user doesn't have permission to view) is excluded when a lead is copied. These options let you override that behaviour and copy the hidden fields along with all other lead data.

1.3 - De-duplication
This tells the group to follow your de-duplication settings. See the
de-duplication article for more information.

1.4 - Referral Partners
This is only relevant if you're using the platform to deliver leads to
Referral Partners

1.5 - Lead summary fields
These options let you add selected information to the lead summary, so you can access it quickly when choosing
View Lead from Search Leads

Standard Fields

2.1 - These are the FLG labels for the data you're capturing. First Name and Last Name aren't shown here because they're compulsory - every lead added must have a first and last name.

2.2 - Here you can set how each standard field behaves:

  • Optional - Whether a lead is added via webform, email/SMS, partner delivery, spreadsheet import, or manually, any field set to Optional won't be required.
  • Required - However the lead is added, any field set to Required must be provided.
  • Internal Optional - Internal fields don't appear on webforms or in partner portals. If a user adds a lead, optional internal fields won't require them to fill these in.
  • Internal Required - Internal fields don't appear on webforms or in partner portals. If a user adds a lead, this option requires them to complete the field. The same applies when a user later edits a received lead - required internal fields must be completed.
  • Hide - Hidden fields don't appear on webforms, in the partner portal, via Edit on a lead, or when creating a New Lead. They're still visible on the lead's Details tab for users with permission to view hidden fields.

2.3 -  As in 1.4, this option adds the information to the Lead Summary (the main screen you see when viewing a lead).

2.4 -  This lets you validate UK phone numbers or postcodes, or switch validation off. If these are ticked, leads that don't meet the criteria will be rejected.

  • UK phone numbers are 10 or 11 digits long (spaces ignored) and start with 01, 02, 03, 08, 07, etc. Note: 076 numbers aren't accepted, as they aren't valid mobile numbers and can be used for missed-call spam.
  • Postcode validation also ignores spaces and checks for the correct format, such as BB12 7NG or E1C 7NN.

You can also add custom titles to lead groups. Go to Settings > Lead Groups > Edit Group, then adjust the values box next to the title field.

Additional Fields

Use this section to capture any information not covered by the standard fields.

3.1 - Name the field here. This could be Mortgage BalanceNumber of ClaimsGenderSmoker - anything you like.

3.2 - Configure the field as in 2.2, choosing whether the information must always be submitted or is optional.

3.3 - Select the type of data to be entered. You have plenty of options:

  • Selection - Choosing this opens a box where you can enter comma-separated items for a drop-down list. For example, select Selection as the data type, then enter Option 1, Option 2, Option 3 in the new box to choose from those three options when entering a lead.
  • Currency - A valid currency value, e.g. 220.00
  • Decimal - e.g. 0.00
  • Integer - Whole numbers only, e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4
  • Text - A small text box for users to add information.
  • Long Text - A large text box for users to add information.
  • Date - A valid date in the format dd/mm/yyyy or yyyy-mm-dd.
  • Time - A valid time in the format hh:mm:ss or hh:mm.
  • UK Phone Number - A valid phone number (10 or 11 digits, starting 01, 02, 03, 08 or 07).
  • UK Postcode - A valid postcode.
  • Email Address - A valid email address in the format name@domain.com (.net, .co.uk, etc.).

In short, this section is where you can hide fields, add new ones, set fields as Required, and decide what information is shown when you view a lead.
