Funnel Behaviour Options
This guide uses Jimmy's Car Sales as a worked example to explain how funnel behaviour options affect what appears in your funnel reports. For background, also see: An introduction to Funnels, Create a funnel, and Create a new funnel report.
Introduction
- Jimmy runs a car showroom and website
- Leads arrive via a contact form, a quotation form, a leads provider, or walk-ins
Jimmy's Funnel
Four steps: 1. New - 2. Contacted - 3. Quoted - 4. Converted
Scenario 1: Contact Form
- Lead enters at New (step 1)
- Progresses in order: New - Contacted - Quoted - Converted
- No steps are skipped or missed
Funnel behaviour options: None required
Scenario 2: Quotation Form
- Lead enters FLG at Quoted (step 3) - skipping steps 1 and 2
- Progresses normally from step 3 to Converted
Funnel behaviour options: Enable Mid-funnel entry - without this, these leads are excluded from the report
Scenario 3: Existing Car Lease
- Lead enters at New (step 1), moves to Contacted (step 2)
- Lead status changes to Existing lease - not in any funnel step - then exits the funnel
- When the lease nears expiry, status changes to Quoted, re-entering at step 3
Funnel behaviour options: Enable Leave and return - without this, the lead disappears from the funnel when it hits the Existing lease status
Scenario 4: Showroom Quotation
- Lead created manually at New (step 1)
- Status jumps straight to Quoted (step 3) - skipping Contacted (step 2)
- Progresses normally from step 3 to Converted
Funnel behaviour options: Enable Skip steps - without this, the lead won't appear in the report
