How do I lower my email bounce rate?

FLG has bounce rate thresholds in place that, if exceeded, will result in a domain being temporarily disabled. These limits are in place to protect your email reputation.

If you do not have a good reputation tied to your domain and IP address, your email will not reach your recipients’ inboxes.

The number one reason we see domains get blocked is a bad mailing list. Most of these lists have bad email addresses and include spam traps. ESPs are good at recognizing bad mailing lists.

FLG has built in email validation on lead entry and email sending for known blacklisted email addresses. We also blacklist all email addresses that bounce on first send to further help.

There are also a number of best practices you can follow for lowering bounce rates:

  1. Use an email validating service at the point of signup to reduce invalid email addresses.
  2. Clean your mailing list frequently and especially before sending a bulk email to remove invalid email addresses.
  3. Don’t purchase your list or scrape websites for emails.
  4. Only send emails to recipients that have signed up to receive them.
  5. Verify the email address is correct with a confirmation email (aka, confirmed opt-in).
